💵 conflict of interest conundrum

“What if my boss sees this?”

If you have a 9-5 but you want you build your own business, chances are you’ve had this thought.

You don’t want to jeopardize your primary source of income, but you have 1 life to live and you don’t want it to be tied to Corporate America for the majority of it.

So what’s the solution?

Here’s what I’ve found:

You need to take a hard look at your skillset first.

What are you good at?

What experiences do you have in the corporate world, that you could leverage on your own?

Now, the critical piece:

How can I apply those skills w/o creating a conflict of interest in my 9-5?

It may not be as straightforward as you would have hoped - but there is a way.

I’m a fan of having difficult conversations up front with your 9-5 to make sure you’re in the clear, but sometimes, you don’t need to have that conversation if your employment agreeement doesn’t restrict this + your solo business has no conflict with your 9-5.

What I don’t want to see is you giving up your dream because of barriers, invisible or not.

I’d like to learn about what’s holding you back from putting a concerted effort - shoot me a reply to this email.

Or reply to this email with your specific situation.

Let’s find a path for you.

It’s too important NOT to.
