How I make sure I don't waste time when building a digital product

There’s nothing worse than building a digital product that nobody wants.

I’ve been there.

You spend hours building, only for it to sit on the shelf collecting digital dust.

“Did this not address a real problem?”

“Did I not market this effectively?”

“Maybe I should just stick to the 9-5…I’ll never make it”

I love building digital products because you can build it once and sell it as much as you want, but if it doesn’t hit the mark for your target client, that leverage never materializes.

And you end up just doing more client work, which is trading time for money…or just go back to commute, work, commute, eat, bed.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

To make sure that this doesn’t become you, here’s 5 tips I’ve learned:

  1. Test your digital product idea through your social media (ask your audience or DM several folks asking them)
  2. Use a lead magnet for a small sliver of your digital product to generate interest (or find out nobody wants it)
  3. Cut to the chase (keep your digital product short and to the point, the completion rate of digital products is abysmal)
  4. Make it actionable (if you can’t do anything with the digital product, what’s the point)
  5. Make the digital product all about the transformation of your ideal client. Current state to future state.

If you have an idea for a digital product, but haven’t built it yet, reply to this email right now and let’s make sure it’s a winner before you invest hours/days/weeks.
