đź’µ I'm not solely a content creator - are you?
I recently read this email from Eddy Quan (@waronweakness)…because I enjoyed it so much, I’ve copied and pasted it below for you to read.
Let me know if you agree with his take or not - would love to hear your thoughts on this one.
Something no guru will ever tell you:

Being a content creator is worse than having a full time job where you clock in at 9am and clock out at 5pm.

It’s an all the time job where you clock in the minute you wake up and clock out the minute you fall asleep.

You see… when you have a regular job, you have a human boss.

And just like every other human, this person isn’t grinding all the time.

He spends time with his family, he sleeps, he takes vacations and so on which means he doesn’t have the luxury to be at your neck every minute of every day.

But when you’re a content creator? Your boss is literally a robot that never takes a break.

Creators call this robot the algorithm.

This is why I’ve stopped identifying myself as a content creator. Yes… I need to create content in order to grow my business but my end mission is not to become a “content creator”.

The problem with a lot of these gurus who sell you the dream of being a creator is they fail to tell you the reality of what involves….

It means you need to be CONSTANTLY putting out content in order to gain and maintain the attention of the masses.

This is why a lot of the creators you look up to….. The ones who have several hundreds thousands of followers if not millions…..

Are really just monkeys who work a robot that never sleeps.

So since it’s Sunday, here’s the question I recommend you ask yourself:

“Is this the kind of lifestyle I really want?”

In other words…

Do you really want to build yourself a lifestyle where you can never take a break from the algo?

One that requires you to dance in front of an audience like a literal monkey in order to squeeze out every second of attention that remains in the creator economy?

I dunno about you but that sounds like fame and celebrity….

Both of which are things I’ve never ever wanted. Not even for my worst enemy.

No.

I got into this game for freedom. I got into this game to build a business that allows me to work to live and NOT
Live to work.

I look at a lot of these big time content creators and all I see are lost souls who are desperate to throw their phone into the ocean and never have to create another piece of content again.

Anyway, bit of a ramble today.

My mission from here on out is to show you how to break free. Not just break free from your 9-5 but from the algorithm that never sleeps.

And that means showing you how to be a cash maker who creates a little bit of content rather than a content creator who can’t take a break.
