Your 9-5 doesn’t define you.
You are much more than what you do for a living.
Look, 9-5s are important, so I won’t sit here and bash them.
You need consistent income.
Great 9-5s exist.
Good bosses exist.
But on the flipside, there’s some ridiculous things about corporate culture that drive me crazy.
The thing is, whether you’ve got a good 9-5 or not, it doesn’t define you.
The sooner you realize that, the better.
When someone asks you “What do you do?”…don’t talk about your job, or rather, mention it as part of a list of 3 things.
Don’t put yourself into a box by saying you’re a “Software Engineer at Google”
The whole basis for solopreneurship is to build your ultimate lifestyle…it’s not for the money (even though the money needs to be solid).
The basis is to own your life.
Own your time.
Do what YOU want to do.
Do you want to spend your entire life taking orders from someone else?
Or do you want to be the Chief Architect of Yourself?
What if you could go to every one of your kid’s baseball games and practices w/o freaking out about email notifications?
What if you could take off a random Tuesday and spend time with your wife, take a quick day trip, or just relax?
This is possible through solopreneurship.
I believe marketing, sales, finance, legal, operations professionals (and many others) can achieve this.
The first step is define what you want.
The second step is to define how you will get there.
The third step is to start taking action.
The fourth step is to look at the data, adjust and keep going.
