đź’µ open this one, you'll like it

I think I may land a new client in the next week or two and I’d like to share why I think it’ll happen and how you can replicate it.

First, let me do a little bashing.

You know all those DMs you get that absolutely suck?

Here’s one:

Let me reiterate that nobody, NOBODY wants to connect, just to CONNECT, which btw is the cringiest word to use when reaching out to someone.

People usually reach out because it will benefit them in some way.

Let’s just call it like it is.

But there’s a way to get what you want without coming across as an absolute sleazeball.

And it’s simple:

Be helpful

That’s exactly what I did with Craig.

Craig was writing content on LinkedIn about leadership, all to help build his brand awareness for his business (executive recruiting).

btw did you know that executive recruiters can make $25-$50k every time they find and place a candidate? That’s some serious dough.

I noticed that he accidentally made a mistake on one of his posts:

Notice how I didn’t ask for a “connect” (WTF does that even mean) and I simply was being helpful and posted a question?

A few messages later, he’s sent me a link to his calendar and we’ve met a couple of times.

I’ve spent some time understanding his business, his ideal client profile, what he’s looking for, what’s blocking him.

I’m using my Solopreneur Copilot Assets:

  • Solopreneur Foundation Accelerator to define his ICP
  • Problem/Offer Matrix to define his end goal solutions and offers that tie to his ICP’s core challenges

Next we’re going to work through his content plan and put together a lead magnet to drive his ICP to his email list so he can start to sell through his email list.

At no point am I:

  • chasing
  • hard-selling
  • being an absolute clown

I’m helping someone who has money with a problem I can fix.

That’s all sales is.

I closed a $1M deal in the 9-5 yesterday as well (not to gloat, but to show you that if I can exceed in my 9-5 while also building my solo business, you can do the same).

If you’d like to discuss how we can partner to accelerate your solo business, reply to this email…this is what I do.

To your solopreneur success,

Matt Barron
