you must write about the future

if you get this right, expect less bumps in the road

Have you been posting religiously but things aren’t sticking as much as they used to?

When I first started posting on 𝕏 I thought I had to write about something I was good at and NEVER deviate from it.

I’m good at B2B tech sales (closed over $44M in sales in the last 5.5 years)…

So I thought, well, I need to post about that!

So I did.

I posted about how great tech sales was, how much I loved it, how to build a partnership with Microsoft to increase deal velocity etc.

All things centered around my 9-5.

But, I looked at myself one day and thought: “why are you posting about something that you’re wanting to eventually move away from?”

That was a big turning point for me.

I was so attached to the idea that I HAD to post about something I knew well.

Guess what: YOU DON’T!

You don’t have to post about something you know well.

Instead post about what you’re:

  • learning about
  • curious about
  • working on and where you’re going

That’s a helluva lot more interesting, don’t you think?

Progress forward.

Don’t you feel a bit more energized after reading that?

You’re now thinking about the present and creating a better future, not regurgitating 10 tips from the past.

I hope you’re feeling me on this.

So if you feel like your content isn’t resonating of if you’re losing interest in your own content…here’s 3 steps to make a change:

  • Do some serious internal reflection. If you can’t get to the root of what you care about going forward, you’ll be in endless pivots. Early work to identify your true foundation as a solopreneur will accelerate your journey to your desired destination.
  • Use my Solopreneur Foundation Accelerator. I specifically built this tool to solve this problem. Answer a few questions about your personality, skillsets and life experiences and with the click of a button, you’ll get the following generated by NotionAI:

  • Ask 1-2 people who engage regularly with your content if they would be open to meeting with you. Ask for honest feedback on your posts, emails, products. What can be improved? What do they like/dislike?

Final note:

Before making any drastic changes, make sure that you’re making changes for the right reasons.

If you’re looking to pivot your content / brand because it’s not resonating with you anymore, that makes sense.

If you’re simply being lazy and not willing to make consistent effort, that’s an entirely different problem…and frankly one that I can’t help you with.

Thank you for you reading, and I hope this helps you accelerate your solopreneur sales.

Build your foundation right and the rest of the journey will be much easier (and faster!)
